Such a clear day that visiting the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, I could see the Cheviot hills from the ward window.

Bellingham First School drawing the Easter Garden
when they visited St Cuthbert's.  The youngest children made their own Easter Gardens in yoghurt pots; others did maze puzzles and word searches.  They all admired the way that some of their families had created a growing garden inside the church to represent Jesus' death on the cross with dead brown leaves giving way to Jesus' resurrection with the tomb empty and new life flourishing.

The first thrush I've seen for ages.  I hope I'm not being foolish to take it as a sign of spring.

When not outside on stable duties, I spend the day organising the church service rota for April (consulting the others by e-mail), writing my report for Otterburn's meeting this evening, planning for an ordinand's summer placement, counting up statistics (as required) on baptisms, weddings and funerals, and then in the evening chairing the first of the Annual Parochial Church Meetings.

Some of the cakes we made at Bellingham First School this afternoon to serve after the Mothering Sunday service on Sunday morning  --  if people get there after the night when the clocks go forward  --  oh dear!

Today was a morning of driving around visiting various people, an afternoon of discussions with people who came to the Rectory,  evening at Otterburn with the PCC (Parochial Church Council).
