Holy Week variety

Monday 26th March 2018
A presentation to a retiring colleague in a farewell assembly  --  before I moved on to another school to tell the Easter story.

Palm Sunday

Sunday 25th March 2018
Christ's Triumphal entry into Jerusalem  as explained to the under-10's...and commemorated in services in several of our churches on Palm Sunday

Schools consultation

Saturday 17th March 2018
First Schools and Middle Schools showing what they can offer by way of good education for the children of West Northumberland.  (I'm back in the function suite of Hexham Mart where I spent a shift on Thursday at the Tourism Fair when Bellingham Deanery had a stall showing the Eternal Horizons video and brochures from our "Tourists > Pilgrims" programme.)

Air Ambulance

Monday 12th March 2018
The medical team make their way to a patient from the Air Ambulance on which we rely in this "remote" area.  (Why is it thought that we are remote from the urban area, when it's equally true that the town is remote from us?)

Mothering Sunday

Sunday 11th March 2018
Also known for being mid-Lent Sunday, today was a good time for Messy Church to start representing the events of Holy Week and Easter (Palm Sunday...Jesus' Crucifixion...and... Resurrection)
Mid-Lent Sunday allows the luxury of Simnel Cake:
The marzipan balls represent the eleven disciples who remained faithful to Jesus after Judas Iscariot had betrayed him.

A thaw

Sunday 4th March 2018
The road is clear as I drive between churches but the top of the wall is still only just visible above the snow.

The bell's frozen

Thursday 1st March
The bell is frozen but...

...we never close.
Even though the notice says the church is open...

...nobody (apart from me) battles through the snow for Holy Communion.  (That's not something which a single person can do alone.  So I say the prayers leading up to Communion and then put everything away.)
